St. Alma Baptist Church's
Bold Thrust Capital Campaign
Raising $100,000.00 for Generations to Come
OUR STORY
Guided by the Scripture, Nehemiah 2:18, the people of St. Alma launched The $100,000 Bold Thrust Campaign on Sunday, November 6, 2022. St. Alma was established in 1874. The church building was erected on the Alma Plantation. 148 years later, the church building and its members are still located on this plantation. However, under the leadership of Dr. Mary Moss, the small membership of St. Alma decided that it was time to “build.” The need to frame the future for coming generations while meeting the present needs of the congregation gave credence to this bold thrust. St. Alma has a rich history and has become a trusted voice in the community and surrounding parishes. Pointe Coupee Parish has many needs and is underserved in many areas. The church’s strong community presence serves as the vehicle to impact lives through its outreach and many ministries. However, this work moves beyond human scope to the vision of God for his people, who have been faithful over the few things.
Dr. Moss became the seventh pastor of St. Alma Baptist Church, elected by the people, and installed by the 4th District Baptist Association. She took the lead after the church endured a church split which left a membership of approximately fifteen active members. The church has since grown to well over two hundred and seventy-five members and numerous ministries, serving congregation and community. Numerical growth and the increase desire to serve the community called for building capacity, with an eye on expanded services and sustainability. The church made a historical milestone on April 13, 2018, when five acreages was purchased, 3736 Rougon Road. This is the first time in the church’s history that the congregation would be landowners. The time has come to build our sanctuary. Thus, we launch The St. Alma Baptist Church Bold Thrust Capital Campaign aimed at raising $100,000.00 in a three-month campaign (November 6-January 31, 2023).
We invite you to join us in what God is doing in the life of St. Alma Baptist Church. We can testify, along with the Psalmist, Psalm 118:23, “This is the Lord’s doing; and it is marvelous in our eyes.” There are several ways to donate to this campaign.
